Installing MRP chain guide: Your Jedi
frame includes a custom extra wide
MRP chain guide. Although this looks
similar to the consumer guides you can
purchase, this has an extra wide back
plate for use on the Jedi. If you need
to purchase small hardware parts (skids,
upper/lower guides) you can do so directly
from MRP. These parts are interchangeable
with their other guides.
Start installation by lining the guide up
on the frame. Install guide with the provided
hardware. Depending on your
crank set/BB choice, you may have
to put spacers on your ISCG mounts.
Again, never put spacers behind your
idle pulley. Use this as a constant to setup
your chain line.
Here are some setup examples:
MRP Camber: no spacers
Middle Burn: no spacers
Shimano Saints: 1 spacer
Race face Atlas: 1 spacer
Truvativ Descendent: 1 spacer
When everything is installed correctly
you will have equal distance between
swing arm/crank arms on both sides.
Use your index finger as a reference.
Next, make sure your chain ring is inline
with the idle pulley. Patience is a virtue.
This is often the hardest part about
building a new bike. Once this is done,
however, you will have a great performing
bike for a long time.
