New leds Cree XR-E, better than Luxeon K2?

Hallo at all.

I see this light at one american forum. He have a fantastic light.

K2: 140 lumen at 1500 mah

Cree XR-E: 160 lumen at 700 mah

wonder what kind of optics these are, by now thought there are just the original (8 deg) ones.
maybe these are the ones with a base optic and then some snap on diffusers? I would not use them, as this means additional 15 % light loss (at least) which is unecessary. With 3 emitters one could set the beams to spread into a trinagle, no need to steal output by diffusers then.


Your lumens are not realistic BY NOW!
You would need "Q4" bin for 160, and You are very lucky to even get "P4"
...thus said, even those are WAY BETTER than Lux III and K2 (imho the K2 suck totally)

Watch out here for pojects in the near future, some ppl here will get their Crees soon
:)

PS: he mentionned these are P3 --> = ~130 at 700 mA (at the emitter, there are surely losses, but thats with any light of course)
Still way better than any luxeon and that at half the current :daumen:
