UN-BOXING
If your bike has arrived by post, then it will have been sent by insured courier. It is very important that you thoroughly check for damage as you unpack your bike. In the event of any damage to your bike DO NOT THROW AWAY ANY PACKAGING and notify us ASAP (max. 7 days). You should not continue to assemble or ride your bike until we notify you of further actions.

Your frame has being assembled in Scotland by one of our highly skilled bicycle mechanics. We have conducted a full quality control check of your frame, torqued all frame bolts correctly and injected grease into all the grease ports. Please note that re-tightening of the frame bolts is not required and will damage the threadlocking system.

While we have done our best to prevent and clean up any smears of grease on your frame – there is a chance that we missed a bit. We would much rather this, than send you a frame which is assembled “dry”.

The frame comes complete with a rear axle and seat collar. The Product Manual is in the box along with any parts that you ordered.

BUILDING YOUR BIKE:
The Product Manual can also be downloaded from our website. This should be referred to before you assemble or ride your bike and during routine maintenance. It is also a useful guide when it comes to looking up specific spare parts to keep you on the trail (i.e. bearing codes).

If you are assembling your own bike you should ensure you have the correct training and tools and follow all instructions carefully. Incorrect assembly may result in damage to your frame and void your warranty.
If you have ordered other parts from us or elsewhere, you will be required to safely fit those parts to your bike. It is your responsibility to ensure that the complete bike is built up safely and with parts that fit correctly. You should refer to both our manual and the product instructions in order to safely fit these parts.

Bottom Bracket Washer
Provided in the box is a BB washer. Please ensure this is fitted to the drive-side when installing the BB by referring to the Product Manual. It replaces the 2.5mm spacer supplied with some BB’s.

IDLER:
The idler should not cause significant additional maintenance, noise or drag and does not result in chain drop or skipping due to decreased chain wrap. We recommend refraining from using wax chain lubricants with the idler.

The idler has a grease injection port which we have used to pack the bearing assembly full of grease. Due to the robust sealing around the idler bearings the pressure of grease pushes the seals onto the axle and you may find the idler is very stiff initially. This stiffness should disappear as you bed the seals in within a couple of rides. Please ensure you re-grease according to the maintenance intervals in the Product Manual.

The idler should wear at an approximately similar rate to the rest of your drivetrain and spare idlers can be purchased on our website.

SERVICING AND SPARES:
The Highlander has been designed from the ground up to be easily serviced and all parts are available directly from us. The included Product Manual should be referred to during any service work and any specific questions can be directed to us.

It is important that you maintain your Highlander at the recommended intervals. There are detailed instructions included in the Product Manual included with your bike and available online. Please note that inadequate maintenance may void your warranty.

Our web store will gradually be updated with an increasing number of spare parts that we stock – if you do not see it please contact us to place an order. We are developing a series of tools to help home mechanics with more complex maintenance of the Highlander including bearing replacement and grease application. Please refer to our website technical pages for updates.

Service intervals for grease injection are available in the Product Manual but will of course depend on the conditions you ride in. The Highlander has being designed for wet and muddy conditions and even in these conditions regular grease injection should ensure that the bearings last a long time. For wet environments thicker bearing grease can be recommended and for dry environments thinner bearing grease may reduce friction.

WARRANTY:
You benefit from a lifetime warranty as the original owner of a Deviate mountain bike frame. This warranty is valid for the lifetime of the purchaser and is non-transferable. If you have purchased your mountain bike directly from Deviate you are automatically registered for our warranty but please keep a copy of the invoice we issued to you. If you have purchased your frame from a dealer we encourage you to register for the lifetime warranty.

The warranty is voided by incorrect or insufficient maintenance or the use of the frame beyond its intended use.

Please proceed to our website to register for warranty or for more details about our warranty.

was wiegts? hängs an die waage!
