If you're mostly using fire roads to get to the Trail-Entry I wouldn't be to worried about the pedaling efficiency since most dampers have some sort of pedaling platform which gives you solid efficiency with very little drawback if you don't need the traction for technical ascending.
That being said, Last is known to have a quite efficient Linkage-Design with very solid anti-squat and a quite progressive leverage ratio through the stroke, which could fit the suspension characteristics you are looking for. If you want 650b I'd suggest the Clay, but the 29" Glen looks very promising as well.
One of the advantages with ordering from Propain is their Configurator which let's you choose from quite a variety of parts. Regarding to your in-head-configuration there are no DVO-Dampers or Shimano Drivetrains though. But the Value/Money Ratio would allow you to sell Damper and Drivetrain and put in the required parts on your own and you should be able to get a very well equiped Tyee for well under 4k. But the Tyees geometry definitely don't offer the most playful characteristics them-self due to the longer chainstays, but it's very well-rounded and confidence inspiring which will lead into more playful riding.
But you should probably take everything with a grain of salt I'm saying regarding Propain since I really like the company.
Lastly I'd like to mention that blindly buying always is somewhat of a gamble, if you'd be somehow able to Testride one of the desired bikes I'd strongly recommend doing so (Testivals in Spring or the next Bike-Holiday in Austria/Germany) or even considering some Brands that are more easily accessible through Bike-Shops in your region (Santa-Cruz Bronson; Trek Remedy; Specialized Stumpjumper Evo; Scott Ransom)
