Proper welds ? You mean ‘double pass welds’ for visual effect NOT perfect ‘first pass’ welds like on a FAT Ti ? Anyway lets keep things ‘friendly’ so please do some research before making such innacurate comments.
With ‘first pass’ welds used by IROBOT at FAT CITY CYCLES on the FAT Ti ( left side of image ) there is NO margin for error or it looks bad visually. Merlin made huge numbers of Ti frames and many others use ‘double pass’ tig welds to make the welds ‘look perfect’ ( as people now expect ) , as in the right side of the diagram attached. The skill level needed for the amazing neat ‘first pass’ FAT Ti welds on the 93 & especially the 94 models is far far higher.
