Eigentlich sollte der Downhill World Cup 2021 Ende April in Maribor beginnen – aufgrund der aktuellen Situation hat die UCI heute bekanntgegeben, dass das Auftaktrennen im slowenischen Wintersport-Ort verschoben wird.
Statt am 24. und 25. April 2021 wird das World Cup-Rennen in Maribor am 14. und 15. August stattfinden und damit als viertes statt als erstes Rennen in der Saison 2021 – vorausgesetzt, es kommt nicht zu weiteren Verschiebungen.
Mit der Verschiebung folgt die UCI einem Antrag der slowenischen Gesundheitsbehörden. Stand heute (09. März 2021) hat Slowenien eine Inzidenz von 257,5 Infektionen pro 100.000 Einwohner – im Vergleich zu Deutschland (aktuell 67,5) ein fast viermal so hoher Wert.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) must announce that the Maribor (Slovenia) round of the 2021 Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, which should have opened the series on 24-25 April with its downhill events, will now take place on the weekend of 14-15 August.
This postponement follows a request from the Slovenian health authorities.
The UCI thanks the organisers for their cooperation in this difficult situation, as well as the riders, teams and all concerned for their understanding.
