I know it's hard to swallow for many people that something as simple as a big fat tire and the right geometry do better on a bike than suspension designs with high-tec patents up to their ears... And after these last 4 years I know it's pretty useless to try to explain what these bikes are...

Oops, I must say with the suspension forks that nobody has ever complained about pogoing... the only time we ride with stiff forks are on beach specific bikes (like the Gobi in one of the previous pictures) or for some touring/expedition purposes. We're not crazy enough to try serious downhills...

About tires & traction: you're correct that Innova (who makes the Surly tires) isn't known for the highest quality rubber "mischung"... But Innova isn't the only one any more making the wide tires, Vee Rubber (from Thailand) is bringing out two new intermediate designs and Innova's new tire...

Normal "terrain" pressures in the big tires is 0.7 - 0.8 bar. For agressive DH oriënted use 0.9 or you might snakebite. On soft terrain you can go down to 0.5, maybe a tad lower, and on very hard terrain or asfalt higher than 1 bar. From 1.2 bar up, the big tires are hard as a rock and you can...
