Regarding the Leatherman. It will not work. These are actually specially designed keys.

Battery lasts 9 weeks. In full tracking mode will last 12 hours so no issue if you are on the other side of town.

Use a lock if you are comfortable with that. For bikes on the expensive side they are not effective though. Snik is tamper proof via a locking key and give you the ability to track the bike for retrieval. It gives you a chance of stopping it as its happening as well.

The device is primarily GPS so it is allowed in Germany. AirTag is a fallback when GPS is not available.

Actually, it is not removeable without a key. You cannot even use a hammer to break the top cap.
