I was testing the Storia last weekend in some serious environment: World Cup DH track in Fort William and it's really brilliant on steep gnarly stuff and very predictable but I think has less pop on big jumps (the last 10-12 meters jumps on that track) than X2. So it's definitely not the better...
That will be the new hybrid fork from EXT. I guess there will be small spring cartridge and 2 air chambers. They didn't want to tell any more details before testing in August. Interesting.
Be careful with Mezzer damping, friend of mine was testing it and said nice small bump sensitivity, nice mid support but terrible traction at higher speeds, worse than lyrik or 36. I would definitely test that one before spending money.
I have got promised the EXT fork prototype for testing at the end of August. Geometron is developing some details on them as they mentioned air and coil version but not sure if they both will be branded by EXT. Will see.

From my experience +/- 25 lbs. can make "day vs. night" difference on that shock what make so important to find the right spring as the shim stack is tuned exactly to your weight and your suspension ratio. I didn't get clear answer from Geometron how much spring rate range is covered by single...
Its not EXT fault that spring valves have "on/off" characteristics - it's just the property of the single shim spring valve. As soon it reaches the critical pressure level it opens where the shims in the other solution: shim stack + needle valve support each other so you don't have these spikes...
True, but when you push the elastic band to the bumper already on the average size jump/drop then you know you need to go level up with the spring and the same oposite way: if you never touch the bumper with the elastic band you know you need to go level down. Don't need to mention few +/-...

Off course there is no difference. Every shock they sell must be assembled, cut to lenght, valved etc. There is no difference except that ordering directly your shock will be assemled at EXT in Italy and the others at the local shops but using the same procedures, at least theoretically :)
Yes if you buy directly from EXT, otherwise local dealers are building up the shock and put custom shim-stack made of 10 shims based on EXT standard database.
