Helius FR or Helius ST?

hello falco
i want to buy one of the above frames but am unsure which one. i want it for dh, freeride, drops, singletrack and the occasional longer ride. basically a good allrounder. if i went for the ST i would run it in the 6" or 7" travel. the FR in 6" travel. i am not that extreme but i do weight 280lbs and am worried about whether the Helius FR would be strong enough for me and the type of riding i do. the Helius ST would be easy strong enough for me but how well would it pedal and climb? if i went for the helius FR could i specify stronger tubing and rear end? also what size would you reccomend for me in both frames or would you recommend me going custom?. i am 6'7" (2.03m) tall.

Hi lesburn,

I'm 1.95m tall and I also had to decide wether i take the FR or the ST. Considering all the Pros and Cons I went for the ST in XL. The only concern I had was the weight of the Bike. But I can tell you all concerns I had, were blown away by the performance of the ST on my first testride.

My concerns about the weight were also needless, because the scale stoppt at 17.7 kg. The Uphill performance is perfect. Only when it is getting really steep, you will notice the extra weight but under normal circumstances it feels like you are riding a bike around 12-13 kilo.

If you would ask me for a recommendation i would say : "Go for the ST".

This is only my humble opinion. I'm sure Falco can help you with your decision by providing you more detailed Information.

Hi Les,

we recommend a custom XXL version of a Helius FR with a stronger tube set.
The ST is a panzer but not so good for touring and climbing. The FR will serve your demands.
