Apologies for no German ...

So, Saturday, we fancy doing something as it was a great day. Ms Rickmeister is a good skiier, so we decide to go to the Belchen. Plan was, she would buy a half day pass, I would cycle up the road on the fatbike, look at the view, have a bit of cake and then come down the road. We are there at 8:45am and everything is just starting.

The Chief at the bottom of the lift immediately comes over and bans me from going up the road straight away. I try and explain what I want to do, up the road, down the road, no pistes or with skiiers, but he isnt moving at all as well as finger poking me in the chest.

So if you want to walk up the road, ski up the road, skin up the piste, snow shoe up the piste, take a sledge up the road, rent ski bikes to go on the lift and down the piste with all the skiers and kids, thats all fine. Flat out, no bikes anywhere.

Asked him a little more. Its not about damage to the piste surface either, just I should go to Todtnau if I want to ride a bike and at the age of 52 I am likely to go so fast I wil be a danger to other people. Plus, if everyone else sees this bike, they will bring their bike along as well.

I'm struggling to see any logic at all from this at all. Disappointing and narrow minded.

Given the out of bounds area and no bikes on trails position, I'm staying away and not making things any worse.

Yep, theres arseholes everywhere to b found! Reminds me of the early 80s, same situation with Snoboards back then.

Shoud have taken a chopper ride up the mountain then bomb down on the fatty...in his face, lol

Sorry to hear that tunnel vision kept you from having a good time. Keep smiling and always remember:

An example for an opposite behavior:

after 5 or 6 rides at the same hill crossing (only crossing, because of the normal trail) two pists, people know me. Some ask: hey you´re the guy from last week, aren´t you? Another one´s force me, skiers too, to ride down the piste with skiers side by side. So I did. I was always afraid to ask, but someday I was there with my sister on snowboards, so I ask the employees if t it´s possible to use the lift with a fatbike. I was astonished, because they agreed at two different ski-lifts and one ropeway: Ok, so long as nobody get´s hurt.

So, as long, as you stay away during rush hours (which seems logical for me), it seems that fatbikers are welcome.

Sure that this guy doesn´t seem to be the brigthtest light on the cake.

Please, don´t take care of this, try to find another 4 or 5 fat bikers and try again :hüpf:, i´m sure it works...
