Weltranglistenerster Roel Paulissen ohne Team!

Vergangenen Montag teilte das Siemens mobile Cannondale Team Management dem Weltranglistenersten mit, dass er 2005 kein Teammitglied mehr sein wird. Roel war Mitglied des erfolgreichen Teams seit 2002 und hat in den letzen Jahren erheblich zum Erfolg beigetragen. Diese sehr überraschende Nachricht war aus deshlab besonders neagtiv für Roel, da wohl bereits eine mündliche Vereinbarung für 2005 existierte.

Roel Paulissen:”I was really shocked when I got the phone-call on Monday; I had just arrived in Ireland for a few days of holidays and then this happened. I was convinced to stay with Siemens mobile Cannondale. Now the year 2004 is almost over and I have to find another team yet! A big friend of me, former team leader of American Eagle and Be-One, Ruud Poels and I are busy now calling around and contacting people. If I don’t succeed in finding an existing team, I will try to start a team for myself. I have some contacts to some people who really want to help me out of this situation. We will see what the next weeks bring – I don’t want to believe that in 2005 the current UCI ranking leader has to stay without any team…”
