Dear friends of mountain biking,
we will like to inform you about the 4th Mtb Thassos Cup race on 4th May 2008 in Thassos island,Greece.
After 3 succesfull mtb races on our island with many participants from Greece and other countries,our 4th,
point to point race,will be a completly new route of 58 km,with 12km singletracks.We start from the Beach
of Potos vilage (San Antonio) and the route goes up to mountain Trikorfo (857m),passesd through the old
willage of Theologos and ended up after a 11 km of singeltrack between,streams,forest and olive trees in the
starting point of Potos Beach.

The entry fee is 10 Euro per person and includes:
-T-Shirt grom the race
-Free energy drinks during the race
-gifts from sponsors of the race
There will be 4 kategoies
15-18
18-35 men
35+ veterans
Wommen
For accomodation in Potos during the race there is a list with mtb hotels and the price to this hotels is
10 euro per day,per person.You will find details for this in the oficial website of the race

Frisch aus Thassos zurückgekehrt. Das Rennen 2009 hat vor wenigen Wochen stattgefunden, die Strecke war z.T. noch ausgeschildert. Ich kann mich nur anschließen, Thassos bietet ein schönes MTB Erlebnis, ideal auch in Kombination mit Familie.
Gewohnt haben wir in Potos im Süden der Insel, netter, klein-touristischer Ort mit vielen Restaurants und Cafeterias, kein Halli-galli.
Jannis Reizis von mtb-thassos.com - sehr nett, spricht auch Deutsch und Englisch - verleiht Bikes und bietet Bikern günstige Unterkünfte.
Torenmöglichkeiten gibt es einige, vom Sightseeing-Biker bis zum Racer.
Ich hatte ein GPS dabei und habe mir von Jannis eine Tour zusammenstellen lassen: Potos - Limenaria - Maries - Limni Maries - Ypsarion (Gipfel 1200m) - Kastro - Waterfalls - Theologos - Singletrails to Potos. 72 km, ca. 1600 hm. 15 km Asphalt, Rest Schotter und ein paar Trailpassagen. Stop in Kastro lohnenswert.

Ideale Reisezeit: Ab Ostern bis Ende September, Mitte Juli bis Ende August wahrscheinlich heiss und voll.
Anreise per Flieger über Kavala, dann 12 km Rad oder Taxi nach Keramoti, von dort die Fähre auf die Insel, dort noch einmal 40 Autominuten bis Potos.

Da wär ich gern *jetzt* wieder!
P.S. 2010 wird es im Mai wieder das MTB Rennen geben, in Kombination mit einem Küstenstraßen - RR "around the island" am selben Wochenende.
