First, sorry for the Englsih, but my German isn't very good.
Second, I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I will give it a try anyway.
I think everyone knows Pfälzerwald or has at least heard of it. The Kalmit is the highest mountain, located near Maikammer. http://www.pfalzbild.de/galerie/kalmit/main.html
Well, today I was rode to the Kalmit and stoped at the Kalmithaus, which is a nice hut at the top with a great view, nice people and good food. I don't know if the place is privately owned or not. Anyway, I sat down at a table and noticed a piece of paper that explained the Kalmithaus has a problem with the "Trinkwasserversorgung". The well or quelle, is almost empty and the haus needs to be connected to the "offentliche Netz der Wasserwerke Maikammer", which will cost about 72000Euro. The Pfälzerwald Verein can't pay this alone and they are asking for donations. I have seen plenty of bikers/mountainbikers at the Kalmithaus, but of course Wanderers usually outnumber us.
Here comes my idea...
I know that mountainbikers are histroically not well liked by wanderers and I thought that if somebody was able to take donations and give the money to the Verein in the name of a MTB organization, then this could be another steeping stone to better relations. I know this isn't going to destroy the 2-meter rule, but it is just little things that somtimes start a chain-reaction.
I don't know if anyone is interested, but my German is not good enough to contact the PWV www.pwv-neustadt.de or www.pwv.de I have the original flyer with bank account info, but maybe direct contact is better???

The relationship between biker and wanderers could also be better by respecting each other..and always be friendly..
