Liteville/Syntace customer service (english)

Think it is time to share another experience with companys Syntace, Liteville and Bike-Components. Over more than a decade i odered most of my bike-stuff at BC. And that was(is) damn a lot! Never had problems with the poeple there. Questions were answered soon, in a friendly tone and competent. Same did the guys from Syntace and Liteville.

Maybe your tone was a bit to harsh at first contact? In german we have the phrase "wie man in den Wald hinein ruft so schallt es heraus".

Second: on my MK11 the Fox CTD works simply perfect. I use the three positions quite often. For every longer time uphill or downhill i switch the lever. Love it :)

Ok, maybe my 73kg are just the ideal for the shock-tune (i can ride it with just 155 Psi pressure), but for wich kind of rider do you think the bike and shock should be optimized? For 90kg heavyweighter or 60kg flyweighter?

No matter, if I would have killed three brandnew shocks in that short period of time the first thing i would do is to ask myself if i did something wrong.

Just my 50 Cents.

If it never worked properly why didn't you complain about it when you still had warranty?

VW and decency... interesting opinion...o_O

I did! First time around ½ year after I bought the frame. Was told that it was not their responsibility because they did not make the shock and that they could not work on it only Fox. Yeah I know it makes no sense at all, since it should be covered both by the 2 year european reclamation and Syntace/Litevilles own 10 year warranty. Didn't bother discussing it and sending it to Liteville, whom then had to send it to Fox would take extra time anyway. So I send it to Fox myself, hoping it would sort it out, so that I didn't have to deal with it ever again. Boy I was wrong! :-( After that I had a major crash that I barely survived. Broken back, long term concussion, hospitalized for many days, recovery etc. that made dealing with Liteville less of an priority. Contacted them again 1½ year later and got the exact same answer. Not their responsibility because they did not make the shock, which anyone with a brain would know is false :ka:>:(

I guess you are right about VW and decency... Liteville probably knew quite fast that the CTD shocks had major issues and just like VW did whatever it took to get out of warranty claims, fearing that anyone with a 301 Mk11 would ask for a new shock instead of that defective piece of junk.

I did ask VERY nicely at first. Also the second and third time. Actually that's where I think I went wrong. Liteville saw that I was very forgiving/easy to work with and took advantage of it, so that they did not have to deal with it themselves. Anyway a reclamation case should not depend on whether I ask nicely or not. European consumer law sure does not include a set rules about asking nicely... I turned my niceness down progressively, as I was being lied to and bulshitted, but that did not help either, so what should I have done?

All my other bikes works fine. I don't kill their shocks and I did not kill three shocks on my 301. It's the original one that keeps dying. The new shock I bought for my 301 was defective from factory (CTD as well). Didn't even get to ride it before I send it back. Bought my first fully in 2008. This is the first time I have a rear shock failing on me.

I'm around 85 kilos. I bought an XL frame. If the shock on an XL frame can't handle more than 70 kilos like Liteville/Markus claims, then I don't think that I am the one to blame here. Instead we should question, why anyone would spec an XL frame with a shock with a 70 kilo weight limit??? But we don't have to! I contacted Fox and they told me it was absolutely not true. The shocks should easily handle up to at least 120 kilos.

If you are still planing to give one of your shocks or forks for service or repair i can give you two alternative adresses. I had my RS Pike for change of travel and the Fox ctd for service there. Nice communication and good Job done.

Cool! Thanks. I will keep those link for later use! :):daumen:
I just had the shock serviced and repaired by Fox, when they examined it. I will use the time until it dies again to save up for another shock, so that I don't have to deal with CTD ever again ;-)
