Hiya fellow mountain bikers,

I have since a couple of weeks ago, moved over to Hamburg from Singapore.

My Deutsche is sehr schlecht although meine Frau is looking for a German language course for me. ;) I apologize in advance.

Still, I want to say hello to everyone here (thanks to Phaty for the link to this board), and would dearly love to meet up with you guys if the opportunity arises.

I would be especially keen to meet up retro riders (old skool). Not sure why I am not very keen in the latest fullies. Am more in love with the "oldies".

Oh yeah, if you see a 91/92 Kona Explosif going by, that could be me. Stop and say hi. :)

cheerios, zeck
ps. My email [email protected]

Hello Zeck!

You're most welcome.
Looking for some Retro Bikers? The only one i know here in Hamburg is the User PrimOChris.
Just send a PM (Personal Message) or E-Mail, or "follow" him to the Classic-Forum ;)

If you are interested in riding some "Hills", please feel free to accompany us at some of the very often happening Tours in the "Harburg Mountains" (Harburger Berge) in the week!

Just watch closely the LMB (Last Minute Biking) and Threads here in the Nordeutschland-Forum. There are intervallic Events at Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday and often at Weekends.

BTW: How long would you stay here in Hamburg?

Greetings :bier:
Harry

Hiya Rabbit,

Thanks for the welcome, and also PrimOChris´contact. I have sent him a PM/email. Hope to catch up with him on some retro interest really soon.

I will be here for a couple of years, hence the need to learn the Deutsche language. It is part of my agreement with my wife - that she stayed a couple of years in Singapore, and then we move to Germany for a couple of years, and then we decide where we will move to after that. Btw, she is German. :)

Hope to meet up with you guys soon!
cheers, zeck
ps. And I really am sorry that I could not write coherent Deutsche and have to use English.

Hi Zeck!

I don't know if Phaty already told you, but you can always contact me to do a ride on my trails around Timmendorfer Strand. Even in the week - I'm on college... ;)
And of course I would take my Singlespeeder for such a ride with you. It's not really Oldschool, but almost. But at least you won't find any spring on it... ;)

This is it:

For an Offroad-Ride of course without carrier, lock and with clickies and thick Big Jim's on it...

I don't know if you've got a car but otherwise there's a good and fast train-connection to Lübeck (where I could also collect you) and even to Timmendorfer Strand.

And I promise: The next time I come to take part in a Harburger-Berge-Tour I'll take my Singlespeeder if you're also there. Perhaps PrimoChris would even turn up in that case...

Hi Zeck,
Welcome aboard, good to have another english speaker here, I think we're gonna take over soon:D .

Whats you idea of old skool? Steel? Single Speed? or just plain old?

Got lights? if so want to ride tonight?

Gruss
Nat

Hallo riders!

Thanks for the very warm welcome. And Nat, I was having a drink with PrimOChris last evening. Saw your post only this morning. :-) Really good to talk to another retro rider. And his Stumpjumper is soooo... nice.

Oh yeah, retro (to me) refers to the late 80s, early 90s. Predominantly steel. Probably cantis and flatbars, and definately rigid. As Madbull says, no springs! ;) The bike setup is mostly original parts, or other pimpy parts of the same era.

After talking to PrimOChris, I am now scouring for a "real" stem and handlebar. Am currently using a ControlTech and new age Azonic riser (GASP!). I simply cannot continue insult my Explosif anymore. ;)

Actually, if I can speak German, which I hope I can do half decently after a couple of months, I would really like to do that, and hopefully post in German too. The archives on the Classic section would be really brimming with good delicious information on the retro bikes and parts. I am looking forward to reading them.

Well, if you guys are around, feel free to give me a call. 0176-7000-6239. I will be going over to CNC today to service my BB in the late afternoon.

Have a good day, and weekend!
cheerios, zeck

:D CNC? Ihr hab wieder einen hingeschickt :)
Ich seh das schon kommen: zecklim fährt irgendwann zurück nach Singapur, aber sein Bike wird er dann jedesmal hierherschicken zur Wartung :D

hey Zeck,

Sweet, you'll find alot of freinds here,(alot of enemies too:D ),
as to the riser, my second gereation C-dale, back in the day, came with risers mounted on a Y stem. Buut.. I might be able to help out in the stem, bar dept. A-head or quill? How long?

Later,
Nat

Hey Nat, thanks for the offer. I just bought a Tiogo stem off someone in the US, and will be getting it in mid Oct. But if someone has a Velocity quill stem at around 90-120mm, that wouldbe awesome. Woah, I have never seen a riser that old. Would be interesting to check it out one of these days. :)

Thanks all. :)

cheers, zeck
ps. Yeah man, Kona, Kona, Kona! ;)

Hi zeck

Unfortunatly niether the riser nor the bike are in my posetion(Stolen), but i've got a bunch of old §h!t , you'll have to have a look one of these days. I built up a bike for a freind of mine, Bridgestone MB-2 with track drops, with a wild OLD ATAX riser bar and stem kombi. It's at The New Cyclist most days, parked in the back.
Blue with red stipes and black lugs, just ask at the counter and tell 'em I sent you:D
See ya
Nat
PS 've got a Kona Kilauea "race light" '96 Columbus tubes, that could be for sale...
