Hi! I am from Croatia so i can only speak in English

I have torque3 and i am overally happy with him... But today i red from canyon website Freeride magazine test... and they were almoust spitting on torque3... saying that 8.0 has different and better geometry and better working rear end... So please if you can send me geometry details of torque3 because i think its the same as 2007 model 8.0 ....

And are you unhappy with 2006 torque models ? unhappy with "nervous" geometry and bad rear end as Freeride magazine said...........

I am looking foward to hear your opinions,

Thanks!

And one more question - what is the clamp size in mm of torque frame
I want to buy this hope clamp in blue collor but i dont know which size: 28.6, 31.8, 34.9 or 36.4

Hi sh00kre,

it is right, that we changed the geometry and the kinematics of the Torque. But in fact it is an enhancement of last year's bike, what does not mean that you have big disadvantages with the "old" model. The spring characteristic is a little bit more progressive, what is useful especially for bigger jumps.

The diameter of the seat clamp is 36.0 mm

Best regards

Daniel

between torque 2007 and 2006 even if the frame is similar change A LOT the geometry and kinetics.

The 2007 models are really progressive, instead the 2006 model have a strange kinematics.. regressive-almost linar-very regressive.. not really god for drops i think.

I have analyzed the kinematics with linkage between torque3 and torque FRX that I'm waiting from much much much much much time :heul:

Look the wave of compression ratio
TORQUE 3

TORQUE FRX

Legend: line go down = progressive line orizzontal= linear line go up = regressive

I hope to have soon my frx to make a good test...
I have build a toy.. but i have closed it, wait my white devil  for inauguration !!:daumen:

:anbet: Canyon:anbet: make my bike arrive soon, I'm becaming crazy for the waiting :wut:

But i am not at all in big drops... so FRX is not my cup of tea... And torque3 is good bike... I see the future... when 2008 models comes, 2007's will have "bljh bljh" geometry, i dont like that...

I dont speak german, but i found many informations before buying torque3, here and on other forums... and non of them said it has bad rear end... or bad geometry????????????!!!

And how can it be good for big drops, if torque3 has dhx 5.0 AIR ??? Torque3 isnt ment to be big hit bike with air shock... FRX is different story

I have done only a comparation between 2006 kinematics and 2007 kinematics ( FRX is only an example, all 2007 model have similari kinetic ).
I speak of kinematics, not geometry, even if i prefear a closer angle of steer..
The little modify near the ammo change a lot the feeling of the bike with the terrain, even if you use a spring ammo ora an air ammo ( the air ammo is little more progressive, than linar spring..).

Torque 3 is a good bike ( I was buying it before switching my order ) the only thing that i don't understand is this strange kinematics, in particular at the second part of the travel. From 100mm it became very very regressive, considering that the first 35 mm are of SAG and considering that torque 3 is a bike for light freeride ( almost the most FR of the 2006 torques ).

Thanks for your opinion!
Any others?

I am curious

But lets leave comparison between 2007 models... Just want to know do you like and how are you dealing with rear end of torque 2006

Well, I have a Torque2 and ever since I changed the Fox DHX to a Rock Shox Pearl 3.3 I've been really satisfied with the bike. Very plush, great adjustability, and the shock never bottoms out. Not that the bike with the Fox was a complete failure, but it was just way too linear for my liking. I love my Torque2 and don't care too much about magazine articles. I mean, Freeride also suggests using a 40mm stem on a bike that's supposed to go on longer tours...

This is my first real FS bike... so i dont understand this terms "linear" ... I only know that fox dhx 5.0 should be great,(for my needs it is) all possible adjustements (ok, no lockout but pro-pedal do similar thing), also bottom out resistance adjustment... I dont get it why pearl against dhx... if you adjust it right dhx must work good, not best but good, ofcorse depends of frame...

I have riden canyon nerve with pearl 3.3 (friends bike) and yes, i feel the change, but i supose this is because of different shock system construction...

I cant believe that Canyon engeniers had totaly fault in frame design for torque 2006models, which doesnt make dhx good for it... constructing a bike for months and make this kind of fault you are talking about (kinematics, linearity ?) makes me think how's that possible

Linear means that the shock does not get significantly "harder" as it uses up its travel. My DHX was way too soft, using up most of its travel even on small size drops - the Rock Shox Motion Control works a lot better than the Fox Pro Pedal, and the Pearl is more progressive as it gets harder near the end. Plus, you have to ride the DHX with a lot of pressure and if you allow too much sag it will bottom out frequently. The Pearl works just much much better with the 2006 Torque - try it, you'll love it!

Thanks!

Now i know what you are talking about, and i am also thinkig of buying new harder spring for fox36... i am only 80kg's... cos it is bottoming also on smaller jumps

I am also interested in trying adjusting the frame with these:

Has enyone tried, how does it affect riding

The torque 3 isn't linear ( linar means that the compression ratio is always the same, so the force have a linar progression during the compression ), it is regressive. You can look this by the graphics I have posted...

I have analyzed the frame another time looking for the forces, and I have seen a strange thing. Look the blue line. This indicate the force needed to compress the ammo, in all his travel.
Is incredible that at the 135mm there is the maximum force to the ammo, after it became lower... looking this is easy to understand why is to easy to go to end course. In that case I think is very useful the bottom out regolation of fox dhx5.0 air. I don't know nothing about pearl 3.3

I already ordered 50mm Hope stem before 2weeks, and high rize handlebar, not because freeride magazine said so, but because its only thing i need for my torque to perform its best... i will also maybe change fox36 spring to harder one, and pearl 3.3? hmm so far i am pretty satisfied with dhx5.0... a bit soft but i am not doing drops higher than 1,5m... because there are no bike parks in Croatia(Zagreb)... and most of my ride is lite DH... All in all, with few adjustments - torque3 is great bike

Repeating - overally i am satisfied with dhx 5.0 ... but i want to know how to adjust it to perform its best? ...How much air pressure for bottom out, and for main chamber? i am 80kg heavy... And you who still have dhx 5.0 how many bottom out "clicks" do you turn, i am asking for lite DH riding style with few drops around 1m height... So please if you can answer me...

I have torque3 for few months only so i am not yet ready for changing dhx or any other part (hmm but what part, everything other is perfect) only handlebar/stem
