What the tail light will offer, is a road/gravel optimized beam pattern. Meaning insane wide width that surrounds the entire bike, while enough vertical beam to be in the eyes of drivers, but not blind the friend riding behind you. It won't have eye piercing peak brightness, because that is not what is safe for everyone around us, instead it is a very tall and narrow homogeneous red light that ends up looking larger than it actually is from a distance. This is more conspicuous and noticeable than a single bright dot, while having that peak brightness spread across a much wider field of view, since unlike a lot of other tail lights, they focus all their light on whats directly behind you. Lastly, on the optics side, will have the downward firing light. Again, nothing new, Magicshine has had it for ages on their SeeMe50, and Project Flock is releasing a light that is immensely dedicated to that task. Its a very good feature that helps illuminate the back of your legs and your bike. From a distance it has the effect of making the visible image larger, more consistent, and easier to judge closing speed and width. Overall, making it safer for yourself by making yourself more visible, and not by just trying to blind other drivers with aggressively blinking/blinding lights, that only draws moths to the flame, and it's why so many police cruisers get hit on the side of the highway.
The other big thing with the tail is a large 18650 battery built into it, so it will have enormously long runtimes, plus..... drumroll.... it's user replaceable. Designed the housing so that 4 small torx screws will open it up, and let you swap the battery for another unprotected 18650 cell. It is NOT designed to be changed on the side of the road, but to let you swap the battery 4-6-10 years down the road if you so choose.
