Entschuldigung, mein Deutsch is sehr schlecht, daher im English
Hello, just found out the following:
My rear (right hand side) Formula Oro was losing its pressure point a bit, so I thought it was bleeding time...
(note that I just installed brand new Monkeylite CNT risers a couple of weeks ago)
So, I remove the master piston from the bar and found this (see pictures)
Aaargh, the brake is leaking from it's membrane that is hidden in the lever housing.
There is an air hole in the lever attachment (see picture) which enables the membrane to expand when the brake fluid gets warm.
It is through this air hole the DOT fluid is "guided" to my carbon bar....
There was some fluid on the inside of the clamp and when I inserted a small piece of paper in the hole it came out wet...
So, a one off? No, my other brake lever has the same problem! :kotz:
If you look closely at the pictures you see the paint of the lever clamp has bubbles and is already flaking off because of the DOT fluid.
You could call this bad luck... I call it a shitty design. When you search the forum for other posts you can see that I have had (other) problems with the Oro's before. This was a replacement from Formula Italy.
So, maybe you should check if your Formula Oro's are eating your carbon bars too.
(I guess I won't get a new carbon bar from Formula)
