Danke für Deine Antwort, ich hatte zwischenzeitlich Kontakt mit Durston, ich kopier die Antwort hier mal rein
<<Hi Martina,
Thanks for your email and for your interest in the X-Dome 1+.
The initial presale batch of tents that will be arriving with us in mid-November has sold out, and we are continuing to take preorders for the next batch, which will arrive sometime in April 2025. We do not have bike packing or shorter poles for the X-Dome. Perhaps you are referring to the Z-Flick poles which are for non-freestanding tents such as our regular X-Mid tents and Pro tents. Those poles fold down to a short length and can be used with any non-freestanding tent, but they are not compatible with the X-Dome since the X-Dome has it's own specific pole set.
The pole sections for the X-Dome 1+ vary in length with the longest ones about 15.75", and then if you leave the hub in the end (as you usually would) it is about 17 - 17.5" for the packed length of the poleset. Our 18" packed length spec for the tent is a bit conservative.
This length is pretty typical for a freestanding tent. The complete tent can be packed vertically inside or outside of a backpack, and on the side of a bike. If you want it to pack shorter so it can pack horizontally in a pack or on the handlebars of a bike, then you would have to use a different stuff sack and pack the poles separately.
We are open to the idea of a bikepacking poleset with more sections for a shorter packed length, but it would add weight and whether we can do it depends on how much interest there is. So we hope to add that option but we don't have a timeline right now.
To calculate the shipping rates available to you in Germany, please go to our website and add the X-Dome 1+ into your cart. This will then ask for your shipping address, and it will generate a regular and expedited shipping rate available to your location, complete with typical shipping times.
For tax, in Europe there is a 12% import tax on tents and VAT tax of about 20% depending on which country you are in. We are outside of Europe so we do not charge these taxes on our website, and they apply when it arrives. We mention this on our shipping page, and also there is a warning about tax when you choose the shipping method, like this:
While it is high tax, it is the same or less tax as buying a tent locally. The difference is just that when a tent is sold at a European shop it is a higher price to include the tax, instead of a lower price with tax charged separately. We do have a few shops in Europe but they still have to charge these taxes on our tents and almost all tents, plus they add profit for them, so the total cost is less buying abroad even when paying the tax. You can check out ValleyandPeak.co.uk, Pod7Kilo.cz and Outdoorline.sk for local purchase, but their prices end up a little more expensive than ours even when factoring in the import taxes and VAT. The X-Dome tents are a new item and are not available at any retail locations at this time, so they can only be purchased through our website.
So I know the tax is disappointing but the difference is just that you see the tax instead of it being hidden in a higher price.
Thanks for your interest in the X-Dome,
T Durston
Hört sich jetzt für mich nicht so an, als ob da wirklich kürzere Stangen kommen. Na, mal sehen. So ist das Zelt schon sehr interessant...
