Cross-Country Gabel

Hallo Leute!
Ich moechte neue CC Gabel kaufen. Ich hab 350 EUR und -19%tax, so ich denk, dass Reba Race ist gut. Oder Sie konnen mir andere gabel beraten? Und was denken Sie, ist 100mm Federweg gut oder ich kann 115 mm kaufen?

Hi.

Also mit den Rebas machst du grundsätzlich nichts falsch, sind gute Gabeln und zu einem guten Preis zu haben. Von meinen Kollegen fahren mehrere Rebas (inkl. mir), alle unterschiedliche Modelle und alle sind zufrieden.

Ich weiss aber nicht, was es in dem Preissegment sonst noch hat.

Also ich denken, du wollen vernünftige Gabel ans Bike gekauft haben ist besser du ausgibst mehr Geld in etwa. Wenn jetzt noch nicht mehr Geld da, sparen ich würde das machen viele hier aber Gabel oben auch nehmen kannst…

Reba oder eine der Marzocchis. Die sind aber recht schwer.
@Michrat: Das mit dem lustig machen kannst du dir eigentlich sparen. Da steht, dass er aus Moskau (Russland) kommt. (Und sein Deutsch ist wesentlich besser als mein Russisch)

Is klar, wir machen uns über sprachliche Unzulänglichkeiten ausländischer Mitbürger lustig und außerdem ist die Reba totaler Mist, weil viel zu billig. Manchmal frag ich mich wirklich...

Die Reba ist eine hervorragende Gabel, mit der du - egal in welcher Version - nichts falsch machst.

Du solltest mal mein Russisch hören. Über Bikes könnte ich mich damit nicht unterhalten.

The Bike´s travel looks like 80mm or 100mm. I wouldn´t install a Fork with more than 105mm of Travel (acc. Marzocchi-Forks).

I think, a 100mm Fork will be the best desicion because the bike´s geometry won´t be destroyd by that. More Travel could have bad results on the ridingcharacteristics.

If you want to use the bike for racing I wouldn`t instal more than 100mm.

With the Rock Shox Reba you could chose between 0 and 115 mm Travel.
It ships preconfigured with 100 mm and a built-height of ~470 mm, via inserting a provided shim you could go down to 85 mm and a built-height of 455 mm, via extracting a shim you could go up to 115 mm travel and a built-height of ~495 mm.
With insertion of selfmade shims you could realize every travel within 0 to 115 mm and therefore acquire a built-height between ~380 mm to ~495 mm just as you wish.
But bear in mind: Every change of the shims needs a complete strip of the lowers and uppers and a disassembling of the airspring.
Realizing less than 85 mm travel needs a bit of experimenting with the pressure in both airchambers as the imprinted values on the lowers are meant for 100 mm travel and via inserting shims you only resize the positive chamber whereas the negativchamber remains in size.
Regarding the bike i would not go for more than 100 mm of travel.
I hope that would help a bit.

Due to the airspring-system with a positive and a negative air-chamber you could setup the fork to your preference: Either very hard with exceedingly more airpressure in the positive chamber than in the negative or very plush with the same pressure applied to each chamber.
If you inflate more pressure in the negative chamber than in the positive you are going to give away travel and the fork will built up sag even if no one is seated on the bike.
The fork is designed for Cross Country or touring and therefore drops are not the profession the fork likes to work in.
But little drops should be sustained by it, albeit i would not overdo it.

yes, I see. Now I have Manitou Axel 800 mm, and it is not enough for me. I want to have more. It is very hard and doesn't fork well. So, that is why I want to buy a new fork. I use this bike for racing, tour and some enduro (has bought DT 5.1, XT hubs and Juicy 5 185 mm). So, I want a fork for this bike to race and to ride some enduro. Is it okay?

if u really want to do some enduro as well another possibility was the fox talas...i think reba is too "racy" for enduro

what about a rock shox recon u-turn? u-turn forks offer 45mm of travel adjustment (Recon/ 85 - 130mm ). this fork works very well and smooth.

in this case i would buy the rock shox pike, because you have 95-140 mm travel, the fork works perfect, and the design is delicious.
But when i see your bike, im not sure anymore whether this would be the right fork, the angles could be destroyed.
Maybe you take the rs recon,and with its 130 mm you could drop from more than 1m
If the bike handles like a cc-bike with this fork??
hm, difficult question, but if you see a drop you can chose 130 mm with the u-turn adjuster, and if you only want to race, you chose 100mm
I think this fork is the best for your voluntaires.

Yesterday have received Juicy 5 185mm. They are really nice.
So, about the fork.
My style is: tour, XC, urban cross country (going down from stairs, jumping a little), sometimes I ride light enduro, which includes downhill and uphill, some jumps (not more than 80 cm for now, have bad rims). So, I wanted to install Reba Race to make my life more soft Now I have Axel and it doesn't work at all. It is not soft. I know, that reba race has dual air system, which makes it smooth and soft. But recon has sole air. Is it worse? So, the high of my Axel is about 470mm. As far as I know, reba's length is about 470 too. And what about Pike and Recon (think that recon is about 470?)? ahh... I really want to buy Pike, but it is so big for me
