Shimano XTR M960 Crankset NEW!!!
This new XTR Crankset is two piece. 2003 XTR cranks will have a new, flared-shaped crank arm and a thin, large-diameter, tubular bottom bracket shaft that is fixed permanently to the drive-side arm. The left crank arm is splined to fit the bottom bracket axle and fixed BMX-style with a clamp bolt. The shaft is so large that there is no room for bearings inside the frameso the bottom bracket turns on special low-profile sealed bearings that are located outside the bottom bracket shell in threaded cups. In classic XTR style, the crank arms are hollow, welded construction. The bottom bracket is CrMo. The drive-side crankarm has a four-arm spider that mirrors the alloy carrier of the XTR cog set. The three chainrings are different diameters and each bolts to a different tier on the spider arms. Say goodbye to standard diameter chainrings--the '03 XTR uses the smaller, compact-drive sprockets in 22/32/44T. Lengths: 165, 170, 172.5, 175 or 180mm. The long-awaited top-level disc brakes should be lighter than a childs balloon. The calipers are double-acting, with a single piston on each side, squeezing rectangular brake pads. Elongated, rectangular brake pads ride on a pair of pins in the caliper body, and feature a quick change design. This should curtail squealing, and boost stopping power.
