Not sure if this is an appropriate thread, or if one even exists, but I thought this was quite admirable and wanted to share. Yesterday I was reading Alicia Leggett's
recovery update article on Pinkbike, where she mentioned the following:
I got a sweet new bike – one of the favorites I’ve reviewed ever – as a ‘get well’ gift from a rad bike company.
There is no explicit mention of the bike or the company in question, but I instantly recalled how genuinely impressed she seemed with the Hugene in the
Field Test last year. I wanted to see if this was the bike in question, but unsurprisingly, the gift did not feature in the article aside from this remark. However, I spotted a familiar sight in the recovery update article's
title photo: although the bike is not shown, an otherwise unidentifiable portion of the bike's handlebars is visible, and the blue grip looks to me unmistakably like the Sixpack grip that comes stock on Propain bikes.
If Propain really gifted the Hugene to Alicia, I have to say, kudos to Propain. Especially as they did not publicise it in any way and it was just my accidental sleuthing that revealed it. Feels like a genuine nice gesture, rather than using someone's tragedy for a publicity stunt. So, bravo Propain, and all the best to Alicia in her recovery. I hope that Hugene will serve her well.
