One SB-24 off camera bottom left. In the forest at 5pm last night the ambient was severely lacking. I cranked ISO up to 1600 and set the flash at it's lowest power on widest beam about 5m back (shadow behind his head indicates where from). Used 1/100sec to let in more ambient and get a little water flow, flash got the rider sharp. BTW, the EXIF won't show remote flash details anyway.

Which Nikon do you have? If it is a D200, i would be surprised about the low noise level.

For this pic I used a D700 body, where noise is no longer as issue.

You make me a bit jealous. I'm using a D200 for concert photography, and certainly i have to shoot with high iso ratings. That's no problem at all, because we reduce the resolution to aobut 500px width.
I like the D3, but the problem is, when you have two very expensive hobbys (biking and photography) you have to decide which one is worthwhile.

Yep, nice pic 'though noise is less of an issue when panning, right?

You don't need a D3 when a D700 exists As for expense, tell me about it. Actually, the biggest problem is buying the glass.

Hmm, ich hätte auch auf Fotomontage getippt, auch beim letzten ("in the wet"). Irgendwie stimmt das Größenverhältnis Umgebung/Fahrer nicht. Aber es sei Colin geglaubt, dass es keine Montagen sind. Liegt wahrscheinlich am Objektiv.
Mir gefallen sie trotzdem nicht: zu artifiziell, nix Lebendiges, zu effekthascherisch, zu angeberisch,... Repetita non placent, Ihr kennt das von mir.

Yepp, you would'nt see any noise on the smaller version.

I like the fast AF of the D3, cause i'm still using AF-D lenses.
And you know about the prices of the AF-S glasses.
