I just notice those rings were only at the rear caliper. The front caliper came with the green bleed block installed instead.
There is no way to fit the bleed block while the rings are mounted on the rear caliper.
I assume the rings are indeed to secure transport, e.g., to prevent the pistons from coming off the caliper. In the front that is guaranteed by shipping the bleed block fit inside.
But maybe I am missing something?

Or only two of the rings should fit on the two pistons with the higher offset?
But my rear caliper came fitted with 4 rings on all of it's 4 pistons...

Indeed it seems the cooling fins mount in the two higher offset pistons. Thus the rings should go on those ones as well.
Funnily, MTBN calls the brakes Trinity 2.0 while the Intend video from above calls them
