Greg Watts schwer verletzt – Spendenaktion läuft

Mit Halskrause auf einer Liege wurde er anschließend ins ein einhalb Stunden entfernte Krankenhaus gebracht, wo er in einer überfüllten Notaufnahme abgestellt wurde. Vor ihm waren noch ca. 100 verletzte von einer Gefängnisschlägerei an der Reihe, sodass es 6h dauerte, bis er von einem Doktor untersucht wurde. Das Röntgen ergab schließlich, dass er zwei gebrochene Wirbel hat: C1 im Nacken und T3 im Rücken.

Greg kann von Glück reden, dass er nicht querschnittsgelähmt ist und nach aktuellem Stand voll genesen wird. Laut Doktor wird es 5-6 Monate dauern, bis er wieder uneingeschränkt ist. Wir wünschen ihm gute Besserung.

Jetzt wird es noch amerikanisch: Um die Krankenhaus- und Reha-Kosten zu finanzieren, sammelt man hier Spenden, die Sponsoren versteigern Teile und spezielle T-Shirts. Unglaublich, dass weder er selbst noch seine Sponsoren eine ausreichende Versicherung abgeschlossen haben.

„Sometimes watching one of your best buds hit the dirt is worse than actually hitting the dirt yourself, and last Wednesday was one of those moments for me. Watching Greg bail out on a double flip was scary as hell and is something that I wish I could erase from my memory, but I’m grateful that we took the proper precautions to get him in an ambulance and off to the hospital safely. He’s a tough mother F’er and there’s no doubt in my mind that he’ll bounce back from this and continue to make the impossible look possible on his bike in the very near future. Sometimes even the best make mistakes, but it takes a true champ to get back up. Heal up homie, you’re a champ!“
