Neues von Joost Wichman: Der amtierende 4X-Weltmeister scheint immer mehr Lust auf Pumptracks zu bekommen. Nach seinem Disco-Pumptrack hat er zusammen mit dem BMX-Racer Twan van Gendt die Pump Battle Series ins Leben gerufen: dort soll jeder die Möglichkeit erhalten, selbst auf dem Pumptrack Spaß zu haben. Dazu kann man Top-Fahrer treffen und diesen beim Rennen zuschauen. Drei Termine sind bislang angesetzt, die Rennen finden in den Niederlanden statt.

Am Rennen von Joost Wichman (4X World Champion 2013) und Twan van Gendt (BMX Finalist Olympia 2012) kann grundsätzlich jeder teilnehmen. Im K.O.-System treten immer zwei Fahrer gegeneinander auf den Tracks an – der Gewinner kommt weiter, der Verlierer ist raus. Ein paar allgemeine Informationen und der vorläufige Programmplan des ersten Events:

PUMP BATTLE SERIES 2014

Bringing the sport to the people and let kids take notice of the beauty of action sports; that’s what the Pump Battle Series are all about.
With the slogan; “Kids! Say hello to the pros!”, Wichman en Van Gendt go beyond creating a spectacular pro event, by letting local kids try the pumptrack for themselves on their own bikes, skates or steps.
Joost Wichman, 2013 Mountainbike World Champion and Twan van Gendt, 2012 Olympic BMX finalist and iCycle.nu created an unique event which will not only challenge the kids, but also push professional riders to their limits.
During the day kids can have fun on the pumptrack and have the chance to meet their heroes, the pro riders. Later that day these same pro riders will take the stage to compete in a spectacular race for the title “Pump Battle King 2014”.
With the Pump Battle Series Wichman and van Gendt want to introduce action sports like gravity mountainbiking and BMX to a wider audience.
The modular pumptracks from Bikeparkitect are portable and can be built up everywhere. At www.modulairpumptrack.com you will find all the possibilities and information about these pumptracks.
Pumptracks are a safe and fun way to get and improve your riding skills. It helps kids to improve their balance and they become more confident when riding a bike, scooter or skates.
Wichman: „We offer a full-day program, and especially emphasize the accessibility of some lesser known sports (Fourcross, BMX, DH, Skateboarding & Steps).The pumptrack is particularly suited for this purpose.“
The event is a mixture of: try for yourself, meet and watch the pros.
„Kids have the chance to try the pump track, get an autographs of World Champions and top riders from various disciplines and later on watch some spectaculair pro racing. This is going to be a fun and spectacular event, full of entertainment and high speed action.“ According to Wichman.
The Pump Battle Series 2014 consists of three rounds in the Netherlands. The goal is to extend the series in 2015 by bringing it abroad.
The first Pump Battle event will take place 15-16 March during the Zero Gravity Expo in Assen and will be broadcasted on National TV.

Race concept: The race is open for everybody on a bike older than 14 years old. * Qualification:
Qualification is done on Saturday (see event program) by time runs. Every rider has 2 time runs on the left course. The best time of every rider counts. The best 64 riders qualify for the race on Sunday.
* Race:
The riders will go head to head, 2 riders at a time. The time fastest rider is aloud to choose lane. As we are using a Bikeparkitect modular pumptrack, both tracks are the complete identical. This means we are only doing one run per battle (no left & right course) We are working with a knock out system! If you loose your out, and if you win you qualify for the next round. At the end of the day 2 riders will make it to the finale.
