We’d chosen the Ice Cap as our first stop, simply because that big chunk of ice up there just wants attention wherever you are around Kangerlussuaq.
But we’d also chosen Russell Glacier because the weather in the area is almost infallibly great, with 300 days of sunshine every year and hardly ever a drop of rain – so starting a three-week production with sunshine was sure to bring joy to the crew.
And then we sat inside the bus through 30 straight hours of rain.

Stuff like that cannot be made up, and we just had to cope – cooking in the rain, tuning gear, looking out of the window, eating every snack we’d brought, waiting, tuning more gear, rummaging food boxes, and waiting some more.
But when the weather finally cleared and the shooting began everyone was so fired up that we’d bagged a whole episode in less than 24 hours of intense work which included a full day on the Ice Cap itself, guided by Adam, and watching the crazy Petr Kraus do his trial bike thing… without spiked tyres.
And it all came together in the ”Biking on the Greenland Ice Cap” episode which we are premiering today.
