Tagessieg Nummer vier für Scott-SRAM bei den Herren, fünfter Erfolg in Folge für Annika Langvad und Anna van der Breggen bei den Damen. Das 43 Kilometer lange Zeitfahren im Oak Valley brachte im Damenfeld keine Veränderungen in der Gesamtwertung mit sich. Bei den Herren hingegen rückten im Kampf um den Gesamtsieg die ersten beiden Teams dichter zusammen und auch der dritte Rang in der Gesamtwertung ist nun umkämpfter denn je. Spannung ist garantiert vor der morgigen Königsetappe des Cape Epic 2019.

Herren – Fumic/Avancini mit Problemen, Scott-SRAM halbiert den Rückstand

Nach dem Defektpech des gestrigen Tages konnte das Scott-SRAM Duo Lars Forster/Nino Schurter beim heutigen Zeitfahren Wiedergutmachung betreiben und den Rückstand auf die weiterhin Gesamtführenden Manuel Fumic und Henrique Avancini ungefähr halbieren. Die 2:42 Minuten Rückstand nach dem Vortag reduzierten Schurter und Forster beim 43 Kilometer langen Zeitfahren auf 1:13 Minuten. Die beiden Eidgenossen waren demnach am heutigen Tag 1:29 Minuten schneller als Fumic und Avancini. Auf Position drei in der Tageswertung landete das Team 7C CBZ Wilier um Louis Meija (Kolumbien) und Johnny Cattaneo (Italien).

Manuel Fumic und Henrique Avancini erwischten keinen guten Start in das heutige Teamzeitfahren. Bereits nach wenigen Kilometern rutschte Fumic auf dem losen Untergrund in einer Kurve weg und stürzte. Rund 15 Sekunden kostete dieses Malheur das Cannondale-Duo zunächst. Doch weniger die verlorene Zeit, sondern vielmehr die Tatsache, dass Fumics Federgabel-/Dämpferlockout nun defekt war kostete das gesamtführende Team wohl im restlichen Verlauf der Etappe einiges an Zeit. Fumic klagte im Ziel über Blockaden im Rücken während der Etappe, die er vor allem auf den Ausfall seiner Federung zurückführte.

Ein Sturz nach wenigen Kilometern und der daraus resultierende Defekt der Lockout-Einheit der Federung bei Manuel Fumic kostete das Cannondale-Duo heute wertvolle Sekunden

Trotzdem schien es zunächst so, dass die beiden Cannondale-Fahrer kaum an Boden verlieren würden gegenüber dem drei Minuten vor ihnen gestarteten Duo Nino Schurter/Lars Forster. Nach 13 Kilometern lagen beide Teams noch gleichauf, bei der nächsten gemessenen Zwischenzeit nach 31,5 Kilometern führten Scott-SRAM jedoch bereits mit 42 Sekunden Vorsprung. Im letzten Abschnitt bis zum Ziel schienen der XC-Weltmeister Schurter und der XC-Europameister Forster regelrecht zu fliegen. Auf den verbliebenen 11,5 Kilometern verdoppelten sie nochmals ihren Vorsprung und fuhren somit nach 1:38:41 Minuten bereits ihren vierten Tageserfolg ein.

Nicht minder spannend dürfte in den kommenden Tagen das Duell um den dritten Platz in der Gesamtwertung verlaufen. Nachdem das Team Bulls um Simon Stiebjahn und Urs Huber gestern noch den dritten Rang in der Gesamtwertung vom italienischen Duo Samuele Porro/Damiano Ferraro übernehmen konnte, wechselten beide Teams beim Zeitfahren heute erneut ihre Positionen. Auf den Plätzen vier (Porro/Ferraro) und fünf (Huber/Stiebjahn) beendeten beide Teams die heutige Etappe. Das Trek Selle San Marco-Duo Porro/Ferraro war am heutigen Tag 25 Sekunden schneller und liegt nun damit vor den drei verbliebenen Renntagen 13 Sekunden vor den Bulls-Heroes. In den Kampf um den Gesamtsieg werden beiden Teams jedoch vorraussichtlich nicht mehr eingreifen können. Trek Selle San Marco liegt 9:50 Minuten hinter den Gesamtführenden Fumic und Avancini, das Team Bulls Heroes dementsprechend 10:03 Minuten.

Das Team Centurion Vaude um Daniel Geismayr und Jochen Käß verteidigte mit Tagesrang sieben (+4:40 min) erfolgreich den fünften Gesamtrang. Ihre schärfsten Kontrahenten im Kampf um den fünften Overallplatz, die beiden Südafrikaner Alan Hatherly und Matthew Beers, waren am heutigen Tag knappe drei Sekunden langsamer und liegen in der Gesamtwertung 1:12 Minuten hinter dem deutsch-österreichischen Duo. Die Bulls Legends Alban Lakata und Karl Platt verloren heute weiter an Boden, Tagesrang 19 (+8:16 min) bedeutet nun Platz zehn in der Gesamtwertung. Dafür überzeugten die Bulls Youngsters Martin Frey und Simon Schneller im Zeitfahren mit dem zehnten Rang (+6:19 min) in der Tagesabrechnung.

Damen – Siegesserie von Langvad/van der Breggen hält an

Auch auf dem fünften Tagesabschnitt sicherten sich Annika Langvad und Anna van der Breggen den Tagessieg in der Damenwertung und bauten ihren Vorsprung auf nun mehr als 25 Minuten aus. Obschon das dänisch-niederländische Duett am heutigen Tag im Hinblick auf die morgige Königsetappe einige Körner sparen wollte, fuhren sie einmal mehr der Konkurrenz weit davon. 1:44 Minuten knöpften sie trotz eines Sturzes von Langvad den Zweitplatzierten Candice Lill und Adelheid Morath ab. Etwas schmunzelnd äußerte van der Breggen im Ziel, dass sie ihren Plan die Etappe verhalten anzugehen frühzeitig über Bord warfen. Wenn sie im Wettkampf seien, könnten sie nicht anders als schnell zu fahren, so van der Breggen kurz nach dem erneuten Tageserfolg.

Etwas überraschend landeten Candice Lill und Adelheid Morath auf dem zweiten Rang. Die stärker eingeschätzten Maja Wloszczowska und Ariane Lüthi erwischten nach dem Defektpech des Vortages auch heute nicht den besten Tag und landeten auf dem dritten Rang. 2:01 Minuten betrug die Differenz zwischen Lill/Morath und Wlosczcowska/Lüthi nach den heutigen 43 Kilometern. In der Gesamtwertung trennen nun die beiden Teams 8:01 Minuten. Nadine Rieder und Sabine Spitz wurden abermals Fünftplatzierte – auch in der Gesamtwertung haben sie diese Position inne.

    Ist die Lefty Ocho nicht standardmässig zu ? Im Handbuch steht jedenfalls "Zur Einstellung des Abfahrtsmodus drücken Sie den Lockout-Hebel (2) mit dem Daumen fest ein, bis er wie gezeigt einrastet".

    Und bei 88 werden Tuning Varianten angeboten "Optionen hinsichtlich Dämpfung:- Chamber Dampfer kann ja nach Wunsch entweder in der Grundeinstellung "offen" oder "geschlossen" angeboten werden - Falls gewünscht kann dieser mit sog. Fumic Option ausgestattet - dh. hier wird eine zweite Fahroption erzeugt- wodurch die Kraft für das Lockout von 32kg Auslösekraft auf 18Kg reduziert wird"

    Was habe ich da oben nur geschrieben smilie. Nach mittlerweile 3 FSi 2019 Aufbauten sollte ich es eigentlich besser wissen...

    JA, die Ocho kommt im Auslieferungszustand ohne Lockout und ist geblockt. Erst nach drücken des Lockouts ist sie auf.

    Hätte er den Rock Shox Twistlock dran, wäre es vermutlich nicht passiert.

    Fumic ist heute glaub ich echt platt. So bewege ich mich jedenfalls auch, wenn ich platt vom Ratt steig.. smilie

    Werbung für die eigene Teamkollegen ist hier natürlich immer gern gesehen. Leider scheint die Mixed-Kategorie nicht wirklich beliebt zu sein, ganze sieben Teams sind noch dabei.

    Frauen-Teams sind es ja leider auch nicht wirklich mehr. Aber heute Tagessieg für Morath smilie
