Aaron Gwin ist ein aus den USA stammender Downhill-Mountainbiker, der bereits fünf Mal die Gesamtwertung des Downhill World Cups gewinnen konnte.

Werdegang

Aaron Gwin lernte 1991 im Alter von vier Jahren das Radfahren auf einem BMX-Bike. Daraufhin dauerte es nicht lange bis er seinen ersten Sponsoren-Vertrag unterzeichnete und sich in der Weltspitze seiner Altersklasse etablierte.

1995 Vier Jahre später im Alter von acht Jahren entschied sich Aaron Gwin jedoch seine BMX-Karriere nicht weiterzuverfolgen. Als Teenager entdeckte er dann den Motocross-Sport für sich. Aufgrund zahlreicher Verletzungen entschied sich Aaron Gwin schließlich auch diese Sportart aufzugeben.

Im Alter von 20 Jahren setze sich Aaron Gwin im Jahr 2007 zum ersten Mal auf ein Downhill-Mountainbike. Nur drei Wochen später belegte er bereits den dritten Platz bei einem lokalen Downhill-Rennen. Nach weiteren Erfolgen unterschrieb er einen Sponsoren-Vertrag mit Yeti-Cycles. Dieser ermöglichte ihm die Teilnahme an seinem ersten Downhill World Cup in Mont Sainte Anne, Canada, bei dem er sensationell den zehnten Platz belegte. Weitere Erfolge folgten und im Jahr 2011 konnte Aaron Gwin schließlich die Gesamtwertung des Downhill World Cups gewinnen. Nach Stationen bei Trek World Racing und Specialized Racing Factory Team startet Gwin seit 2016 für den YT-Mob.
